Canadian home insurance does not cover the property of guests, therefore, please make sure any valuables such as jewelry and laptops etc. are properly insured.
Most hosts will allow you to use their machines to do your laundry, or offer to do it for you. However, some hosts in apartment buildings have coin-operated laundry machines and in that case you will also have to pay to use them.
Students are expected to bring their own personal hygiene products; soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
Downloading/uploading on the Internet is NOT free in Canada. Most Internet plans include a monthly maximum downloading/uploading volume. If you exceed the basic volume, you will be responsible for paying the excess amount. Please be sure to speak to your homestay family when you arrive about internet use/limits.
